My photograph of the AAS Poster about THINGS. The poster’s authors were Fabian Walter (MPIA), Elias Brinks (Univ. Hertfordshire), Edwin de Blok (Mt. Stromlo Obs.), Frank Bigiel (MPIA), Michele Thornley (Bucknell Univ.), and Roger Kennicutt (Cambridge)

One of the posters in the same session as mine was a poster by Fabian Walter, Elias Brinks, and their collaborators consisting of images from the The HI Nearby Galaxy Survey (THINGS) [AAS abstract describing the poster ‘Spitzer Infrared Galaxy Survey’ or SINGS (Astronomers have a fun time coming up with acronyms). Since the infrared sees dust which is heated by hot stars and the 21-cm radio observations see the hydrogen gas that forms stars, comparing the THINGS and SINGS data should offer some excellent insights into the process of star formation. This also illustrates the use of multi-wavelength observations in astronomy today.
