We are proud to announce that Jim Bertram, an employee of SCSU with a humorous take on life has offered to take on the job of “editorial cartoonist” for SCSUAstronomy.com. In this capacity, Jim will write and maintain a new comic webpage called the Comicological Constant. The title itself is a take on the Cosmological Constant, a variable Albert Einstein added to General Relativity to balance against gravity and keep the universe from collapsing under its own weight. Einstein came to call the Cosmological Constant his biggest error when the expansion of the Universe was discovered by Edwin Hubble in 1929. In the 1990s, with the discovery that the expansion of the Universe is actually accelerating, the Cosmological constant is now back with a vengeance. We hope that Jim’s comics will give you a chuckle and I don’t think anyone here will be calling them an error any time soon.
