Reaching out to the Local Universe

We are begining an experiment in public outreach by establishing this website to allow the astronomers (and maybe an occasional physicist) at Saint Cloud State University to “reach out to the local universe” of internet users from the Saint Cloud area and beyond. At the SCSU Astronomy website we plan to do the following (at least in the short term):

1. We will provide resources to aid local Saint Cloud area astronomers, including local weather and local astronomical information to help you plan your observations in Saint Cloud skies.
2. We will post current astronomy news stories of interest to all astronomers (from the pros to armchair amateur). In addition to these stories from traditional news sources, we will also be posting blog entries on "local astronomy" being done in the department and community.
3. We will provide an electronic forum to allow interactive discussions between us and those who choose to join in. This will include answering questions from the general public about astronomy and discussions of ongoing news.

Let the experiment begin…
